A taste of acid folk and psychedelia was to be had in St James street, courtesy of Down at the Red Bricks, a new monthly Thursday nighter down at the Malt Cross. Featuring an acousticly themed selection of alternative folk music, the night played host to a lively set from John Power, of La's fame.
Supporting John Power and his band was Samuel Kirk a folk singer songwriter from our own fair city. Plus Mancunian lads The Travelling Band who had things bounding along with their own brand of psychedelic folk with a country rhythm.
All in a pleasant evening of thoughtful and fairly upbeat acousto folk, rounded off with a barrage of thumping tunes from John Power who had the place rocking till closing time. Good fun.
