Daniel Hoffmann-Gill (Dan) and Mark Whiteley (Caz) are two men on a mission. A mission to walk from the deepest depths of North Wales to the Coast of Boston, Lincolnshire stopping along the way at various locations to entertain the public for the odd scrap of food and if their luck is in, a bed for the night.
The guys burst onto the stage looking slightly bedraggled after their long walk but throughout their time in front of the Arts Theatre curtains showed no sign of debilitation. Both Dan and Caz’s roots are firmly embedded in Nottingham’s sandstone crumb, so the boys’ tales and improvisations were well rounded and went down extremely well with the audience. Throughout the show we were treated to an eclectic mix of traveller’s tales, well-timed stand up and thought provoking monologues from each of the actors, sending the audience’s emotions rocketing up and down on a roller coaster ride, akin to anything that Goose Fair can offer but without the ridiculous price tag.
All in all it was a riveting and thoroughly entertaining evening for everyone who made it down to the Arts Theatre and I’m sure any future visits from the Hard Graft Theatre Company would be welcomed with open arms from the theatre goers of Nottingham.
