In A few weeks Andrew Wright and Peter Sampson aka We Show Up On Radar will be participating in the long and arduous journey known as The Mongol Rally. The aim is to drive from London to Mongolia in the most appalling excuse for a car that you can find….
The car in question is an old, green Fiat Panda (Andy’s current runabout) and the destination; Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia. The hapless pair will drive a total of over 8000 miles across the bumpiest of landscapes, trying to avoid flat tyres and the ever-real possibility being kidnapped.
Anyone that knows Andy or Peter agrees that the duo that are known for singing songs about wanting to be a Small Japanese car may not be best suited for driving a small Italian car to Mongolia. Neither of them have any mechanical knowledge at all. Andy wouldn’t know what a spark plug was if it hit him in the face. In fact he might not even notice if it hit him in the face. So what are they up to? Why are they punishing themselves like this?! It’s all in the name of charity of course! We Show Up On Radar (Team Radar) aim to raise £1000 for a charity called Send A Cow. This charity helps the poor farmers of Africa by providing them with Livestock, advice and training.
To help Raise money for the journey We Show Up On Radar have organized a special fundraising gig at Junktion7, Nottingham on 23rd June. The Line-up looks great with We Show Up On Radar, The Petebox, Swimming, Captain Dangerous and Modes Of Transport. Not to mention DJ sets from Dan Rattomatic and Ben Fawce. You’d have to have your head incorrectly screwed on to miss this, and it’s all for a good cause.

As well as the gig there’s loads of other ways to help send Team RadaR to Mongolia. They need you to sponsor them! You can donate securely online here. They are also offering advertising space on their trusty traverser. So if you run a business and think you would benefit from some international press (and who wouldn’t!) Please contact them on myspace for more details.
Sponsors already include Leftlion, Bandwagon Studio’s, Copydoc printing and Izumi Records. Best of luck to We Show Up On RadaR! Catch We Show Up On Radar at Junktion7, Nottingham on 23rd June. Doors are at 8.30 and it costs £5.
