When Adele Prince decided to run 20 miles not once, but four times in four days, you could be forgiven for thinking she was taking part in a late Sports Relief stunt. But the 33-year-old is not a fundraiser but an artist. One of the participating artists in "no place, like home", this year's Beacon art project event, Adele plans to run from Nottingham railway station to Skegness railway station over four days this August, taking pictures every 10 minutes of what she can see along the route.
The former dancer will be accompanied only by her husband Edward, who will cycle alongside her with a video camera to record her progress.
Adele, whose hero is marathon runner Paula Radcliffe, will then turn the pictures and film of her exhausting journey into a work of art, to be displayed at Boston railway station in Lincolnshire 9 September - 1 October.
Adele is no stranger to creating art on the streets of Nottingham. In 2005, her project Trolley Spotting involved tagging trolleys at Marks and Spencers on Listergate and spotting abandoned shoppers all over the city for an exhibition at the city's Angel Row Gallery
The longest distance Adele has run before is the 26.2 miles of the Edinburgh marathon, which she completed this June in 4 hours 47 minutes.
The journey from Nottingham to Skegness by Central Trains takes around 2 hours and usually costs £15.90 for a cheap day single and £16.70 for a standard open single.
"No place, like home" is this year's Beacon Art Project event, which is a series of commissioned temporary art installations in hidden rural heritage sites around south Lincolnshire and runs over four weekends from 9 Sept - 1 October inclusive. The Beacon coach excursions which take you to the sites are free.
On Sunday 1 October, there will be a coach service picking up from Nottingham's Angel Row Gallery taking audience to the start point of the free Beacon excursion, this unusual, but totally accessible art project in Lincolnshire. The return Nottingham link costs £7/ £5 concs/ under-16s free. There will be other coach pick ups from around the region.
