Notts County FC are having an Open Day...

Notts County Football Club is holding a Community Open Day on Sunday 15th July. The day will commence at 11am and will run until 3pm in the afternoon. Admission is free of charge and supporters and members of the local community are all very welcome to attend.

Throughout the day there will be a range of attractions, with something for everyone – young and old alike. There will be the opportunity to see behind the scenes at the Meadow Lane Stadium and to sit alongside BBC Radio Nottingham’s Colin Slater in the commentary box. Manager, Steve Thompson and members of the playing squad will also be present to meet and greet fans, whilst there will also be the chance for supporters to have their picture taken with their favourite player courtesy of the Club’s official photographer John Shumpter.

As well as seasoned favourites from past Open Days, such as face painting, bouncy castle, display of Notts County memorabilia and a treasure hunt there will also be a host of new attractions. Visitors will be able to see the players put through their paces in a training session (provided the pitch is ready), as well as to pit their wits against them in a Pro Evo Challenge. There is a special exhibition on the history of black footballers, telling the story of black and Asian players’ contribution to the game in Britain from the beginnings of the professional game to the present day. Plans are also being put in place for a number of special guests, including a number of past players and a certain outlaw!

The Club Shop will be open throughout the day, stocking an array of new items, including the launch of Tony Brown’s new, up-dated edition of the History of Notts County, as well as a special mascot competition for the forthcoming pre-season fixture against Nottingham Forest. Notts County’s Football in the Community Team will be present with their giant target inflatable. Meanwhile organisers of the day, Notts County Supporters Trust will also be present and will have their own display and membership stall alongside Notts County Supporters Club.

Other key community organisations, agencies and local businesses who will be participating in the event include Stonebridge City Farm, The Meadows Partnership Trust, the Big Wheel, Notts County Unison, and The Signpost to Polish Success.

Food and drink will be available throughout the day with the tea bars open, an ice cream stand and the Meadow Club open for liquid refreshments, including a couple of real ales courtesy of Magpie Brewery.

Commenting on the event, the Trust’s Community Officer David Hindley said, “We are encouraging as many people as possible to join us for our Community Day. It is set to be a really fun day out for all the family and is the ideal chance to meet new players and management at the Club. This is a free event which aims to bring together the local community whether you have an interest in football or not.”
