Hockley Hustle is returning to take over the streets of Nottinghams best loved district on Sunday 5th October. Now in its third successive year the creative arts and music festival will be bringing together the finest promoters our city has to offer to showcase the entire spectrum of genres across 13 venues. Starting at 12 noon and stretching late into the night culminating in a bass fuelled climax with Highness at the Social. All of the proceeds will go to charity, namely Oxfam and NSPCC local projects.
The event has picked up impressive momentum since its conception with more venues and bigger acts getting involved as the years go by. This time around the focus is on increased outdoor activity to bring the streets to life with the emphasis on Hockleys small square outside Ice Nine. Nottingham School of Samba, capoeira dancers and circus entertainers will all be representing alongside 3 large Graffiti boards and some of the cities best artists putting pieces together on the day. Outside of the main venues just about every business in the area will be involved with fringe spaces adding to the fun. A COW clothing fashion show (a funky boutique on George street), featuring new lines, free booze and djs, a barbecue on the Terrace of Broadway, Confetti students taking over wax bar, interactive arts at Shaw's, loads of food offers and djs spinning away in retail spaces.

Highlights of the music on the day include MNSTR (Detonate and Spectrums brand) hosting Finger Lickin records 10th anniversary at Brownes. One of the biggest labels in the breaks world bringing A Skillz to the decks. Dubstep rhythms will be shaking Muse via Wigflex, Rubberdub and Misst, Farmyard records will host both Dogma and downstairs at the Social (upstairs will be hosted by Default This), there will be live Jazz at Eschucha, Im Not From London at the Pit and Pendulum and Oh My Gosh bringing the Hip Hop to Stone with DMC champions Switch and furious P displaying their talents. If thats not enough for you The Market Bar, Lee Rosys, Bunkers Hill and the Old Angel will also be kicked into action by Folkwit records, Drowned in Sound and NGHC. Last but by no means least LeftLion will host Broadway Cinema with ‘Yeah I’ll play it later’/ LeftLion DJs on the terrace and acts playing day and night in the main bar. Origamibiro (Expanding records) and the joy of box will headline the night. Tom Hills impressive guitar skills with an electronic twist will accompany the visual artist for a show that is simply not to be missed.
Its a positive sign to see all these promoters coming together to support very worthy causes instead of having to ensure their nights don’t clash on Nottinghams gig going calendar. Expect a party and miss at your own peril.
