A UK festival not to be missed this year is only a stone’s throw away. Eloise Moran tells us what it's all about.

With a line-up jam-packed with fantastic artists, both internationally renowned, and upcoming - and with seven acts born out of our native Nottingham, this June festival is set to be something very special.

The range of local Notts artists playing is proof once again of the astounding music talent coming out of the city. First up, we have the incredible Sam Beeton; not only is his voice hauntingly beautiful, he has recently become a part of the ever-growing Burberry empire, with Christopher Bailey (Burberry creative director) picking Beeton for their acoustic video sessions. His video for My Doll has received almost 330,000 hits on youtube.

Another talent to get giddily excited for is the unstoppable Jake Morley, who is a recent NTU graduate. Described by the BBC as “always a show stealer,” Morley's unique pop sound has made waves, with his debut single Feet Don’t Fail Me Now, a deliriously catchy tune, being played on numerous acclaimed London Radio Shows.

Another act to look forward to are the six virtuoso musicians from Manière des Bohémiens; they embrace a phenomenal gypsy jazz sound, mixed with a bit of Eastern European Swing. Not only will they be amazing live, they are guaranteed a moving and swinging crowd, because, how could you not want to dance to their French gypsy jazz?

Hhymn are also heading to Big Session and with their gritty, hymn-like (funny that?) tunes, they are sure to resonate in the minds of all festival-goers.  Richard Warren, one third of Britpop band, The Hybrids and latterly Echoboy, has also been added to the line-up. The talented Alexa Hawksworth, and acoustic folk rock band Nimming Ned have also been confirmed to perform.

With all of this, as well as the brilliance of acts like Jon Boden, The Leisure Society, Oysterband and Idlewild singer, Roddy Woomble, this festival is not to be missed. The fact that it's just a few miles away in Derbyshire makes it inexcusable for you music loving Nottingham folk to pass it up.

The Big Session Festival takes place at Catton Hall, Walton-On-Trent, Derbyshire from 15-17 June 2012.
