Ed Bannard played to a smiling bohemian audience at the August Roots festival last Saturday 13th August at Green Mills Hall in Sneinton...

Organised in association with NAAN, the Nottingham Area Artist Network, the event combined a festival atmosphere with the secluded ambience of the Green's Mill old school hall, an ideal setting for some thoughtful acoustic music. Ed Bannard carries on the singer/songwriter tradition well – carefully thought out songwriting and lyricism combine with his guitar and voice to form the songs, which are alternatively haunting and catchy. Bass and drums joined in half way through his set to liven the tone for a different effect.

Ed's playing was greeted with much approval from the crowd with big smiles, clapping and the occasional exuberant whoop to be heard. Oak his nine track debut album is on sale at the gigs, and worth buying. Chatting to the crowd most of them seemed to be involved in making music, the night had a great community feel to it!

Ed Bannard is playing at Industry Productions I Festival at Snug on Sunday 28 August 2005. Tickets are £5. Dress-code is Glam-fest.
