About Us

So you've made it this far, here's a bit of background on how this site came about

LeftLion.co.uk was designed to be an online magazine and resource to help bring together Nottinghams diverse cultural aspects.

During the creation process the project has grown and our hopes for this as a resource are far more than shown here today. With up to date listings and fresh journalism we want LeftLion to be as useful meeting point as possible, whilst still allowing for it to grow naturally.

The people who created and now work on LeftLion are mainly a group of friends who appreciate and celebrate the rich culture of the city of Nottingham. Without wishing to sound cliched: "We want to give something back!"

We like drinking in Nottingham bars, we like dancing in Nottingham clubs and we like swearing at Nottingham football matches (collectively we encompass both sides of the Trent).

Above all our lovingly named 'Hood Town' has helped make us what we are today and we hope that others can enjoy its unique style as much as we do. We also aim to support artistic talent as it springs up in the city and we would welcome any new contributors who feel similar.

For the record our name derives from Nottingham's unrivalled meeting place in the heart of the Market Square.
