LeftLion is recruiting

LeftLion is currently recruiting fresh faces to our team of brain surgeons, kickboxers, wonderbra models and stealth fighter pilots*. If you can string a sentence together and would like to enhance both your CV and your social circle by being part of Nottingham’s best loved underground creative experiment, then read on. (Please note these are mainly unpaid positions).

Below is a bit of an explanation of some of the roles we’re currently looking to fill. Read through them and, if you are interested, email us to tell us a bit about yourself and answer the following three questions:

- What experience do you have of doing similar stuff to what you’d like to do for us?
- How many hours a week do you have spare to put into working with LeftLion?
- What do you think are the best and worst things about LeftLion at present?

Graphic Designer
We want a young hungry designer who is au fait with Adobe Indesign to work with our Artistic Director to produce the pages of Nottingham's best loved Entertainments magazine. You need good ideas of your own, a keen eye for detail and ten or so spare hours a month to put into making our pages look great!

Community writers
We need keen, motivated people to write about and cover issues in the local community for both the magazine and the website. See the LeftLion Community section here, but we want to cover so much more.

Arts writers
Do you appreciate the finer things in life? Do you enjoy a wander around local galleries and exhibitions, yet yearn to share your thoughts with a wider audience? Are you passionate about the local arts scene? If so check out the LeftLion Art section and contact us, perhaps with a couple of suggestions of things you think we should cover in the future.

Film writers
Do you like going to the cinema? Do you have a decent knowledge of film? Do you go and see things when they have just come out, rather than waiting a few weeks? Have a read of our film reviews section and let us know if you think you can do better,

Music writers
We've actually already got quite a few music writers, but at the moment we particularly need people who are interested in clubbing (ie writing about DJs rather than live bands). We also need these people to be able to turn around a review within 24hours of leaving the club. Let us know if you think you can do that.

Sports writers
We already cover the local football clubs (a bit) but we don’t do nearly enough on local rugby, ice hockey, cricket or indeed any other sports around these parts. See LeftLion's Sports section for yourself. Do you think you can inform our readers by covering some of the gaps?

Listings
If you’re passionate about going out in Nottingham and have a few hours a month to spare sitting at a computer doing glorified data-entry in exchange for a CV boost and occasional free gig tickets then let us know. We need you to help with the our  Nottingham Events listings section.

Delivery people
Do you have a car and a few hours spare in the week (either in the day or early evening)? Would you like to earn a bit of extra cash as part of our magazine delivery team? If so get in touch. We cover petrol and offer a basic hourly wage, with hours to suit your lifestyle.
