Let’s Get Quizzical is a one-off mega music quiz in aid of a brilliant local Nottingham Charity – Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. We spoke to Becky, the organiser, to find out more...
What's going on with this quiz then? Well, the company I work for are raising money for Bluebell Wood and I wanted to do something to help. I was never going to run a marathon or bungee off a building so I thought I’d do something a little less reckless and a bit more fun. I love a good pub quiz, but I often feel like there’s not enough music content in there, and that’s the thing I know most about! So, a mega music quiz it was and since then I’ve been drafting in friends to help and coming up with ridiculous ideas for rounds.
Go on then, what’s the worst/best suggestion you’ve had?
One friend suggested a Singstar karaoke round, which is an awesomely amazing idea, but surprisingly tricky to work into a pub quiz format!
So what rounds will there be?
Well, I don’t want to give too much away, but there will definitely be a round where people get to express their creativity, a round where 80’s rock & pop knowledge would come in handy, a “Paul Gambaccini Test” where you’ve really got to know some serious music geek trivia to succeed and of course, the best round… good old “Name That Tune”.
Anything else?
We’re trying to work out how we can have some live music, we'll be doing a little record stall for people to buy vinyl/cthe very funny and lovely Joey Chickenskin will be hosting and the boys from Hello Thor will be playing some tunes. Come along, bring a team and we'll have a great night. I'm hoping we'll see teams from some of our fair city's music promoters, record labels, bands and lots of other cool people too.

Let's Get Quizzical will take place at Spanky Van Dyke's on Monday 16 August 2010 from 8pm onwards. The cost of entry is £2 per person, with all proceeds going to Bluebell Wood.
