Violated Short Film Festival

OTT Productions are putting out a call for submissions for their third Violated Short Film Festival...

The End  - Showing at Violated Short Film Festival

With Nottingham, and the Midlands, deftly climbing up the British film hierarchy, it only seems right that there be events that allow local filmmakers to showcase their masterpieces to the masses.  As filmmakers themselves with a penchant for shorts, OTT Productions will be hosting their third Violated Short Film Festival in March 2011, an event that aims to be a showcase for talents, genres and mediums. And their putting out a call for your submissions…

We had a quick chat with them about what they are wanting from the days: “The central focus will be short films, but we are also interested in the art of free speech and interpretation; be that through watercolour, fashion… or the medium of dance.” Enough said.

Violated Short Film Festival will be comprised of FOUR distinct event sections:

Short Films Screening

Showcase the work of the best local filmmakers the country has to offer, there are no criteria or restrictions on length, genre or content. They will be short listing for the festival, but will only be rejecting films based on their content if they feel it is 'too much' (e.g. Pro-Nazism, Pro-Kitten Drowning, Pro-X-Factor, etc…) They are encouraging entrants to push the limits of conventional filmmaking though narrative, style, content and effects.

Deadline for submissions is 28th February 2011.

Live Bands

As part of the festival, local bands and musicians will be playing live. Not only will they be providing entertainment and keeping the masses happy. If you’re interested in taking part or helping out on the music side of the day – get in touch.

Talent Market

Around the main screen will be a selection of stalls allowing anybody that has something to promote, raise awareness for or sell to do just that. We'd like to see everyone from painters and photographers to designers and t-shirt printers getting involved. These stalls are free to use, but places are limited – so if you want one, get in quick!

The Shining in 60 Seconds

The Filmmakers Lounge

This will be open to all submission entrants and non-entrant filmmakers alike after the Main Screening. At this networking event you will able to talk to other directors, camera operators, composers, effects artists, writers and actors, etc… to compare notes and perhaps find that person you're needing to get your next project moving.

All selected films will have been viewed prior to the screening and will be given an advisory OTT-Rating. A programme will be available on the day with a running order of all the films with brief synopses.

VIOLATED will be taking place at The Rutland Square Hotel, Conference & Banqueting Centre, St James Street, Nottingham, NG1 6FJ. Doors open 6:30pm. Entry, as a spectator, is free.
