Alan and Jared's first sports podcast of 2010 kicks off with a special on some up and coming Nottingham cagefighters. HoodTown actually has a serious rep in the world of mixed marial arts thanks to the pioneering work of the Rough House crew like Dan Hardy and Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley in the UFC. Jared put some questions to some of the new blood like ‘Judo’ Jimmy Wallhead, Michelle ‘Warrior Queen’ Baron and Mahmood ‘Persian Pride’ Besharate. They weren’t at all the psychos you might think…
(Note: Michelle and Mahmood are both fighting at King of the Ring at Rock City on Sunday 28 February. Find out more about that event).
In the studio as our musical guest was Dwyzak The Elevator of Nottingham Trip-hop pioneers Papa La Bas. He told us about his band, his love of boxing and who he wants to beat in the LeftLion Fantasy League.
Also in the studio were Rich and Alex from Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, feeling slightly flat despite their recent fine form - a defeat against the sheepshaggers and a trip to Vegas can do that to a man. Jacob from Notts County Mad was also there to give us a run-down on the pies and their game at the weekend against Wigan. Still absolutely no idea whether Notts will have new owners any time soon, but while the wins keep coming it seems to matter less.

Write Commentby Jared Feb 10, 2010, 06:49:34 pmBad results for all 3 local teams last night.
If anybody out there goes to watch the stags and wants to cover them for LeftLion let me know.
I bet Forest fans never thought they'd be happy for Commons to score a goal for Derby, huh?
by Jared Feb 15, 2010, 12:55:19 amAnother weekend of bad results for Forest and County.
by Jared Feb 26, 2010, 10:25:29 amSome interesting recent stuff from County. First off, anyone interested in the whole Munto saga should check this interview with former chairman JAH as it sheds a lot of light on the whole thing:

Also, we had apparantly been in talks with Beckham's agent about next season:

by Jared Feb 26, 2010, 11:25:03 amThe Notts County badge is likely to be changed for next season by the way. Obviously to rid the horrible H from SCH logo.
They're actually having a discussion with the fans about it via the club's official facebook site.

Just listening to this now. There is no excuse whatsoever for not getting legal advice, Okay there wasn't any more money, but someone in the S Trust or a county fan or any local lawyer would have done it for next to nothing, and even if not you have to get legal advice when you're recommending fans give away their shares in the club. He said it was all being rushed so they didn't have time... surely that was a massive alarm bell right there.
by Jared Feb 26, 2010, 04:15:38 pmHe said none of this at the time though. Other than that the guarantee was 'cast iron' and 'bona fide'.
Also he doesn't mention the fact that he is alleged to have spent thousands and thousands of the clubs money by firing staff improperly - and getting us sued for wrongful dismissal.
Hilarious that he described Russell King as one of "the most honourable people he has ever met" - what kind of crowd does he normally hang with?
Seriously, I know loads of football fans hate Notts for wanting to bin the supporters trust, but you would too if you had people like that representing you.

"Notts Forest"...
by Jared Mar 05, 2010, 04:35:30 pmAny of you noticed the journalist's name? I'm sure he was a reserve goalie for Forest not that long ago...
