Write Commentby Stillman Sep 24, 2008, 04:40:43 pmI have lived in this city my entire life yet have been to the castle only once, and that was about a month ago.
Tip: Take your citycard - you get in for free. Otherwise it's about 3 beans (I think)
The gardens are quiet nice. Good views of the south of the city are available. The castle itself is a curious thing - there is some excellent art upstairs to be viewed, downstairs has a fascinating war memrobelia collection that is locally themed (Sherwood foresters regiment). It looks like it has had a refit quite recently, fresh and light inside. There's a cafe and a small souvenir shop also.
If it's a lovely summer day I think it could be quite a nice place to escape to, yet still remain within the city.
by seamus flannery Sep 25, 2008, 02:23:17 pmYou get in free if you can prove you live within the realms of Nottingham City Council. For us Rushcliffers, it takes a protracted rhetoric before they let you in for Calippos on the lawn.
