Beat the Streets, the city-spanning celebration of music which aims to raise money for local charities like Framework, is back this month. We take a look at some of the best Notts artists taking to one of the many stages on Sunday 30 January…
Fat Digester
These Notts legends return to Beat the Streets yet again - and you can expect the same energy, creativity and outright fun as always. This lot are, much like P!nk, bound to get this party started, bringing an eclectic mix of funk, soul and hip-hop. A collective in every sense of the word, expect to feel a proper connection to the group and their music - one that will stick around long after the gig comes to a close.
Georgie
Ahead of supporting Tom Odell at Rock City in March, Mansfield’s Georgie will be lending her unique voice to Beat the Streets’ efforts at eradicating homelessness. 2021 was a big year for the singer-songwriter, after her tunes were featured on BBC Radio 2 and she joined the likes of Blossoms and Dermot Kennedy at Newcastle’s This Is Tomorrow Festival. Catch Georgie in the city at the start of what promises to be another big twelve months for this exciting local talent.
Kezia Gill
Country music isn’t always synonymous with Nottingham, but Kezia Gill is flying the flag with remarkable success. As well as supporting The Shires on their nationwide tour, Kezia has recently performed at the Liverpool Country Music Festival and the iconic 100 Club in London, surely making her one of the busiest artists in the game. Bringing a bit Irish Folk to us Notts folk, keep your eyes peeled for what will undoubtedly be one of the day’s biggest highlights.

No, not the former England goalkeeper who notoriously beansed it in a crucial World Cup game. Instead, it’s the multi-talented artist from our very own city. Bringing his popular blend of soul, R&B and pop beats, expect to be taken on a musical journey with plenty of passion. From upbeat bangers like Talking To My Demons to more mellow moods like Sleeping On My Own, you’ll be green with envy if you miss out on his performance. Yes, we did just write that. And, yes, we mean it.
Whisky Stain
“A gutterslung duo of smoke-smothered sand-blasted southern stomp rock.” Whisky Stain’s description of themselves is truly one-of-a-kind, just like the pair themselves. Performing at Y Not, featuring on the soundtrack of Sky Atlantic's hit series Ray Donovan, five consecutive releases on BBC introducing - they’ve achieved a lot in the last eight years. And with their catchy tunes, it’s easy to see why. Raise the tempo a little with a trip to see these two.
