Long goodbyes, Lightyear and loads of dinosaurs. It's a big month for the big screen...

The Long Goodbye

Notts film collective Jackie Treehorn Productions refuse to show anything less than stone cold classics, and they’re back with another cracking choice - 1973’s The Long Goodbye. Showcasing Elliott Gould in his absolute prime, this genre-blending favourite is a crime drama like no other. Even better? You can check it out for just a fiver. Lovely.

The Longest Goodbye is showing at Mammoth Cinema on Thursday 9 June

Jurassic World: Dominion

Whatever you thought of the first two Jurassic World films, you have to feel at least a little excitement at the thought of the original cast of Jurassic Park returning to the big screen. Jeff Goldblum. Sam Neill. Laura Dern. Taking on dinosaurs once again. Come on now. Chris Pratt’s in there too, if you need another hype-inducing reason to book a ticket.

Jurassic World: Dominion is showing at Arc Beeston, Broadway, Cineworld, Savoy and Showcase from Friday 10 June

Lightyear

We won’t add to the infinite amount of “To infinity…” puns working the rounds, so we’ll just say we’re buzzing for this one. Telling the origin story of the beloved toy Buzz Lightyear from that famous story by Pixar, this features a top cast including Chris Evans and Keke Palmer, and looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. So, if you’re looking for a bit of escapism this month, check this one out…

Lightyear is showing at Arc Beeston, Cineworld and Showcase from Friday 17 June

Elvis

What’s that? You want more musical biopics? Well, why the heck wouldn’t you? There haven't been many made over the years!! Hilarious sarcasm aside, the latest film from director Baz Luhrmann - the brains behind Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet - has received an impressive 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, winning over critics with its stylish and original approach to the King’s life, so it seems well worth adding to your watchlist.

Elvis is showing at Arc Beeston, Broadway, Cineworld, Savoy, and Showcase from Friday 24 June

Highlander

When there can only be one film to show in June, The Loft Movie Theatre believe it must be Highlander. The popular movie group have come up trumps with their choice this month, bringing Sean Connery, sword fighting and some dodgy accents to the big screen. Head on down to Savoy Cinema to get in on the action.

Highlander is showing at Savoy Cinema on Monday 27 June
