The band took to the stage of Rough Trade to perform songs from their new album Fever Dream, which was released this year. Truth be told, hearing There’s no love in LA, Mr Doctor Man and Lonely performed live was brutal; hearts were out and so were voices. And the moment they played Lifeless Stars my jaw dropped; it is a song that has the power to make me stop in time and travel somewhere inside my mind.

With all of the fans sing alongside the songs, feeling the moment, closing their eyes and being immersed in a wave of emotion and feelings… I felt carefree, yet absolved in understanding, in doubt and a happy kind of sadness. As confusing as it might sound, that is exactly what I felt. From the moment Palaye Royale started singing, I was in between jumping and shouting out my heart and closing my eyes and considering all my life decisions. Isn’t that what good music is meant to make you feel?

Despite the fact that only four songs were played that evening, I can still say that it was one of my favourite concerts that I’ve been to

It wasn’t only the flashing lights or the music, it was a combination of the people, the atmosphere and the realisation of how little value I sometimes attribute to these moments. The moments you’re stuck in time with a background song that makes you feel like a main character in your favourite emotive moment. I felt like myself, but I still thought of who I am, and that my friend is the power of music, the messy thoughts that you know that an answer would be too obvious for either a tear or a smile.

But I have to ask the band why they gave the fans such an amazingly emotional concert but then left them to simply wish for more after only four songs? However, despite the fact that the set was very short, I can still say that it was one of my favourite concerts that I’ve been to. The signing after had a queue was almost as big as the one to enter the concert, and even though the appearance and musical style of Palaye Royale may leave one to think that they will give more of a distant greet to their fans, they were the exact opposite - so smiley, warm and sweet.

Palaye Royale did not disappoint even a little bit, I just wished they played for the whole night so that I could have the same nostalgic and invincible feeling over and over again. For that, I have to thank them for such a beautiful concert.
