James Bay played to a sold-out crowd at Rock City...

I want to say that if you’re broken-hearted then James Bay will be the best concert, but honestly, I believe it is the perfect concert for any occasion. If you’re happy, angry, sad, excited, seeing James Bay live will fit all emotions.

The concert was sold-out, the venue was full, people were everywhere, but one thing was for sure: we were all there for the music. The concert started with the support act of Kevin Garett who fully captured the eyes and ears of the audience with his essence.

The solo artist inspired the crowd and made sure that his name would stick around for a little while longer. 9pm was when screams echoed throughout the venue and then the man with the hat showed up with the warmest smile.

James Bay performed for over an hour, playing his most iconic hits including Us, Hold Back the River and Let it Go, as well as songs from his most recent album Leap. Rock City was one, the audience singing in syntony with Bay in a magical moment, and his smile revealed nothing less than that.

Whistles, hums, claps, hands in the air. The audience followed Bay when he asked them to repeat the chorus a capella, and it was beautiful. It is the most wholesome feeling to be in a concert where the atmosphere is so peaceful, passionate and heart-warming.

Something that really touched my heart was when James invited Kevin back on stage to sing together. It was such a beautiful thing, inviting his friend to the stage. Promoting each other, but above all, sharing their passion with the audience.

There wasn’t a single moment that I wasn’t smiling or thinking to myself how this is a once in a lifetime moment; it’s not every day that you see James Bay, that you hear him talk about his mental health and about the song he wrote for his girlfriend, Lucy. It was like being with a friend at the pub, with live music, but the friend was the music itself.

As confusing as it may sound, being at the concert was more than needed. The words, the instruments, and even hearing the audience scream “You sexy b*stard”. James Bay is one of those concerts that feels like a breeze of fresh air, just what you didn’t know you needed to feel refreshed, reborn and happy.
