Celebrating ten years since its premiere at Sadler Wells, Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty is returning to the Theatre Royal this week. Running from Tuesday until Saturday, it’s a chance to enter the magical world of fairies and vampires alongside Princess Aurora. Look forward to an amazing score, beautiful costumes and expert storytelling in this very special fairy tale production.

The Winter's Tale by Nottingham Shakespeare Company

This week the Nottingham Shakespeare Company is putting on a local production of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. A story of love, betrayal and redemption spanning sixteen years, you have three chances (this week) to catch the show in various locations including St John’s Church Carrington, St Stephen’s Church Sneinton and Lincoln Cathedral. Sounds great to us.

Henge

A British concept band formed in Manchester, Henge are coming to Rescue Rooms this Friday. Playing a kind of electronic crossover rock which they’ve self named ‘Cosmic Dross’, this gig promises to be wacky and full of energy, particularly as the members perform as the fictional characters Zpor, Goo, Grok and Nom.

Beat the Streets

We couldn’t talk about this week without mentioning Beat the Streets. A staple in the Nottingham music scene, this festival showcases some of the best local artists we have while raising money for Framework. Expect big names like Ferocious Dog, alongside amazing musicians including alt blk era, Girlband and The Chase.

Sara Pascoe: Success Story
When: Sunday 29 January, 7.30pm
Where: Theatre Royal

Star of the BBC Two special Sara Pascoe: LadsLadsLads, the comedian writer and actor Sara Pascoe is coming to the Theatre Royal this week. An ideal way to spend your Sunday evening, it’s a chance to catch her latest show Success Story, chronicling everything from scaring Pete Burns to ruining Hugh Grant’s birthday party.
