What can people expect from this year's Beeston Film Festival?
157 world class short films from thirty countries, spanning every genre. They're so addictive that you won't want to miss a single one!

The festival has been running for almost ten years. How has it developed and evolved in that time?
It has expanded into different areas, such as Women's Voice and Pride, giving a platform for underrepresented voices but never losing sight that our aim is to bring to Beeston the best of the next generation of filmmakers. Physically, we have moved about 150 yards from The White Lion to the awesome Arc Cinema.

There's a real international focus to the festival. Why is it important to have such a wide-reaching approach to your line-up?
We have a fundamental belief that through a short film festival one can see cultural similarities, whereas corporate media focuses on presenting differences and divisions. However, it is worth mentioning that this year 50% of the programme is from the UK.

At the same time, there's always a local element to BFF. What local talent should people keep an eye out for?
Our opening night, titled Beeston & Beyond, features four Beestonian filmmakers and their outstanding films: A Last Resort, Cosmo, Full Full Half Half and Good Grief. These talented filmmakers offer heartbreak, humour, intrigue and compassion through local voices.

This is our ninth film festival, our biggest and best, with stars such as Mark Gatiss, Vicky McClure, Celia Imrie, and Guillermo del Toro

It's taking place at The Arc Cinema again. How are you finding that partnership?
The Arc, through Ezra Watson and his team, have been amazingly supportive. They love film and know how to take care the of the audience. It is a partnership that will grow and grow.

Is this a festival for filmmakers, or is there something for everyone?
Asuccessful film festival creates an audience and an opportunity for filmmakers to meet the audience. Hence our dedicated, exclusive Festival Club (Bistro 66) will provide the perfect venue a relaxed, informative interaction.

Is there anything else you'd like to tell LeftLion readers?
This is our ninth film festival, our biggest and best, with stars such as Mark Gatiss, Vicky McClure, Celia Imrie, and Guillermo del Toro, and raising stars who are responsible for this programme of wonderful films. Whether it is horror, comedy, science-fiction, or films from Ukraine, Nigeria, India, China, USA or Beeston, the festival delivers on every level. Tickets are now on sale now! Please don't miss out.
