we did not intend to launch like this, but the death of our server meant it was easier to launch the new site, so apologies for the less than perfect launch.
Please note, the forum will be re-skinned and re-organised, but it will take a little while whilst we sort out some other more pressing issues.
http://www.leftlion.co.uk for the main site, it's not linked to from the forum yet.
Thanks,
Al

Article / content commenting
Directory searching
None forum site login to allow event and directory/business adding and editing
IE7 probably looks pretty horrible
The forum isn't skinned
There's no facebook integration on the forum yet

I think the new site looks really really boring. It doesnt grab me. Theres not enough colour & far too much white. Also there is not enough image & too much text for a website. It doesnt draw my eyes in, the opposite, the colour and layout makes me not want to read on.
The list of articles is unimaginative and the tab layout feels very old fashioned an uncreative. I liked the layout of the old site, it felt contained and personal. This feels clinical and uninviting. I have seen so many websites that are 'run of the mill' like this one. It doesnt feel like a creative website, it feels corporate and dull.
Again, sorry to all the people who put the time and effort in but opinion was requested.

Aside from that, love the new website - looks great in Chrome.

I'm gutted that the +/- post vote things don't seem to be working. Apparently I've already used up my daily usage of neg votes and I've not used any yet. They could be fun!
They seem to be working for me - i've just repped you. Not sure what the hell the point is in them though...

What browser are you using out of interest? and are you talking about the main website rather than the forum as the forum is just a basic install and will be themed later on.
I understand that lots of work has gone into the new site so forgive me for this but opinion was requested.

I have viewed it using firefox and IE8 and see no difference in either browser. I was refering to the website not the forum.Hi Monkey Doctor, appreciate the feedback.

I didn't try a positive rep, only neg rep, and it's not letting me do that. Aboo!

I'm sure there's a million and one things to do, some ideas:
- not sure about the picture switching form left to right in the list of articles on the main page, at first I thought it was nice, but then it annoyed me quite quickly and seemed to make it harder to scan.
- Could do with the tabbed links staying for the forum, as there's currently no way back!
- Also trying the events calendar function in the listings page (I don't really like the calendar approach usually, and thought I'd remind myself why!), it worked but was no longer present on the results page it gave, and the next arrow on the simpler date graphic above where the calendar was ,was pretty hard to spot/and iffy to actually click.
- Plus I can't see the cursor in this window when its at the beginning of a line!
I've only had a quick look though...

There is no containment for the pages, it feels like the pages may go on forever and seep out of the side of my monitor.
There is far too much white on the page. Everything feels like its swimming in a sea of white.
Every page is the same. I didnt even realise that I was in a different section of the website as all the pages seem to be layed out the same.
It doesnt feel like a creative website. It feels like a corporate website for a rather boring company. The page headers I like but that is the only creative bit about the website in my opinion.
Trellis pointed out that the alternation fof the pictures did his head in, mine too.
I am used to tabbed websites but maybe something a little more creative could have been done with them (this links into what I was saying earlier about all the pages looking the same)
