We are pleased to announce FatCat Records' Mazes AND Milk Maid will be playing at Spanky Van Dyke's on Sunday 09.10.11. Also playing are Eagulls (Moshi Moshi) and Weird Menace (reeeeaaalllly good band, big things will come).

DO NOT MISS THIS!!

Mazes - http://mazesmazesmazes.com/

Mazes (comprising of Jack Cooper on vocals and guitar, Neil Robinson on drums, Jarin Tabata on guitars and Conan Roberts on bass) formed in early 2009 in Manchester and began their life touring with Pens and Wavves before going on to play shows and tour with bands such as Deerhunter, Thee Oh Sees, Sic Alps, Box Elders, Dum Dum Girls and Crocodiles. Their belief in recording live and very quickly to tape has meant that they already have a significant back catalogue, releasing their first two singles (the second a split with Spectrals) on Brighton’s Sex is Disgusting and a third on Suffering Jukebox to critical acclaim from blogs and the wider press.

Milk Maid - http://www.myspace.c...ilkmaidmilkmaid

Milk Maid emerged from the Manchester music scene, and consists of Adam Carless, Ian Hodson, and songwriter Martin Cohen – ex-bassist of Nine Black Alps. A DIY aesthetic has been a key component in the band’s ethos, with Cohen writing and recording everything in his flat.

Riding their own wave in the re-emergence of the Manchester music scene, Milk Maid has with their effortless creativity and swirling melodies created a significant buzz - appearing with such bands as Wild Nothing, label-mates Mazes, Titus Andronicus, Crocodiles and Male Bonding. Sessions at the BBC with Marc Riley and at Maida Vale with Huw Stephens has solidified Milk Maid’s status as one of the bands to look out for in 2011.

----------------------
Eagulls - http://www.myspace.com/eagulls

“…a blast of gruff, fuzzed-out melodic vocals and lacerating Dinosaur Jr-style riffery, wholly unbecoming of their elegant avian moniker.” NME

“Eagulls manage to perfectly straddle the line between pop hopefulness and raw noise, taking influences from their hardcore pasts and expanding on them. For us they’re one of the most exciting bands in the country and we can’t wait to hear more from them.” MOSHI MOSHI

----------------------
Weird Menace

"Weird Menace are so new and have only played literally a handful of gigs that they come draped in a fog of mystery. This soon dissipates as they squeeze out a gritty wall of fuzz with the guitarist making her guitar sound like sandpaper scraping against the speakers as the bass and drums grind out tight angular rhythms. There are the usual noise rock references in their loud squall such as Sonic Youth, although Weird Menace have more of an ice cool air about them. Their secret weapon is the bass guitarist who makes her instrument creep around like Peter Hook on tip toes, giving the whole thing an early New Order vibe before they went dance and if they ever attempted to go grunge." - Leftlion Review
