Some of you may or may not know that Moog is closing in January. As we get ready to do our last Soul Buggin' party at the venue on New Years Eve I decided to put down a few words about the place on our blog, a little Ode to Moog you could say...

Full details of our party are over in the Going out forum for those that want to come and shake a leg with us one final time on the Moog floorboards

Sad times, I always loved Moog as a venue - just a shame about its position because it missed out a lot because of that. Hope you tear the roof down on NYE, guys.

Well that was bloody EPIC

Struggling to put some words together about all that carnage as my brain is seriously still seriously mangled. Manged to string a few sentences together on the blog this week and stuck up some pictures for those who aren't on facearse

aww. bring back the bomb moog!

was a pleasure to have been so closely involved in this place for so long. even lived above it for a short while (4 months is all the men in white coats would permit). I remember first visiting some time in 2001 when it had recently opened and liked it immediately. Tehy hosted a whole weekend of electronic acts in the form of a mini festival.

visits were paid on and off in sync with their opening/closing/changing ownership over the years and many good nights were had both as a party organiser, dj, tennant and punter. i could fill a book with stories about that place.

thanks to everyone for all their hard work and loyalty in making that place what it is. goodbye to the cave raves, the swampy bogs, the (totally amazing but overlooked by so many) roof terrace, the often excellent food, the great beers and the not so great beers, the staff running across the road to kaya to buy more booze when the crowd drank it all, getting so pissed in the flat we set fire to the fridge one night (oops), coming to my own afterparty event having cleaned up the previous venue and walking in to find it packed wall to wall and everyone going totally mental, the old-skool arcade table, sweeney the best door man in the whole of nottingham, the moog keyboard fixed to the dj box that nearly every raver in notts has had their photo taken with, the randoms i've met there and remain friends with, the whoops, the cheers, the falls, the tears, the scrunchface...it is all remembered and revered.

Well last nights closing party was friggin' bonkers. What time did it go on till? Think I bailed out at about 6am and it was still going on

Todays been about reminiscing lots.

Here's my Top 20 memories of Moog

1. Watching the sun come up on the roof terrace with Domu after one of our early Soul Buggin' parties and chewing the fat about life. Little did we know this would be one of his last gigs.

2. Red Rack'em's Breakfast club. A crazy late session which started at 2am and ended with loads of bacon buttes brought out at 7am for everyone. Lovely.

3. Ashley Beedle dropping 'New Jersey Deep' to a full dance floor at Soul Buggin' and having to pinch myself and ask 'am I dreaming this or is it really happening?'

4. Working behind the bar and seeing everything from a completely different perspective. I remember a punter being so royally bolloxed he couldn't talk to order his drink but before I could refuse him I was told 'until they do something wrong we just have to keep filling em with booze'.

5. The stripper at the Fun Your Ear Midlands party.

6. Nottingham All Stars Easter Sunday party. A truly ridiculous line up of local djs assembled together by Mr Berman. That line up has never and will probably will never been seen again.

7. The wonky tap in the gents. Gawd bless it

8. Doing the Noodle Hotpot shows live from the bar on sundays. People eating sunday roasts and wondering why I was chatting on the mic to imaginary people

9. Playing records at the audiophile cave party with the Boogaloo crew under moog and pissing in pint glasses.

10. Sweeny. The best dressed doorman in Notts and proper soul boy.

11. Benji B thinking it was funny to play along with Wrighty and Mark and pretending he had cancelled and giving me a heart attack

12. Going down to Moog on my lonesome one night for Dave's 30th Birthday lock in and meeting some random called Emma Cain. She told me she had been informed by Dave to 'not go home with beane because he's a rapist'.

13. Watching England do so beautifully shit at the world cup on the big screen with a pub full of fans.

14. FInding all manner of strange objects behind the decks ranging from homeless Moodymann records and mannequin arms.

15. Alex Traska putting on a massive coach to take us all from Saltwater to Moog for the MHYH birthday party. Was like a proper day out with a holiday vibe!

16. DJing in pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers for the Faze Action Halloween Disco and seeing Ady dressed in a wedding dress dancing his tits off.

17. Basement MOOGaloo NYE party with about 20 of us sat around a massive table before the party on the dancefloor eating a wonderful Thai meal cooked by Dan and then going on to drop David Bowie's "Golden Years" at midnight to room full of madness.

18. The Jazz Dance Sessions. Sweat, sweat and more sweat.

19. Getting a phone call from Moog informing me that I had to get down quick as they were refusing to serve the missus for being completely pole axed. If Moog ever refuses to serve you, you've definitely had too much.

20. BBQ's on the sun terrace with people asleep on the sofas who hadn't been home yet with a crazy rabbit running amok in-between your toes

Farewell my friend
