Don't forget Speech Therapy this Thursday - Hotel Deux, Nottingham
Speech Therapy is back! This time with marvellously talented and incredibly funny Steve Rooney
Here’s some more about him:
Steve began performing poetry in Leicester in 1999, where he quickly built a reputation for his sharp, satirical poetry and his assured performance style.
Described by one reviewer as delivering “ironic and witty perspectives from the hard shoulder of life's motorway", Steve’s themes range from politics and popular culture, to work and relationships. Like all apparent misanthropes, he really just wants to be loved, and his informal, relaxed, conversational manner more than makes up for the sometimes biting content of his material.
Steve regularly performs at gigs and festivals throughout the UK. Recent appearances have included the Latitude Festival, the Bristol Poetry Festival and the Swindon Festival of Literature.
Hardly competitive by nature, he has nevertheless contrived to win a number of poetry slams, including the Ledbury Poetry Festival Slam (2007) the UK All Stars Slam at the Cheltenham Literature Festival (2008).
As well as Steve, Bobby Shoes (AKA John Marriott) and his Word on the Street we will back to show us new and interesting things to do with junk mail, Miggy Angel will provide us with more wit and wisdom and there will be plenty of open mic slots for those wishing to get involved.
We will also be running The Raffle of Rammel and the whole thing will be presented by the half baked bard himself – MulletProofPoet.
£3.00 – you can’t say fairer that that.

Another good night down there. Not the best attendance I've seen though.(Due to the hot weather)
Mr Rooney's set was very professional/amusing. I got to have a 5minute rant that went ok i thought.
And to top it off I won my second raffle of rammel prize,
can't be bad eh.
