Sunday 22 May 2016
reading time: min, words
The multi-venue music-a-thon is just around the corner, and the army of up-and-coming bands and eager fans are ready to greet each other in over 30 venues across the city centre
Dot To Dot Festival 2016

Babe Punch (14:45 - 15:15, Rock City)
There's a rumour that when Courtney Love was on tour in the 90s with Hole, she became aquainted with the Nottingham and Derby area. It seems the four female and two male products of Courtney's visit have gained their mother's musical talents. The young grunge loving group have the privilege of playing main stage at Rock City during the festival, and it will be your privilege to go and watch them.

Lucille (14:50 - 15:20, Rough Trade & 19:00 - 19:30, The Malt Cross)
With musical influences that originate more from the Delta than from Derby, traditional rock 'n roll outit Lucille will be gracing the stages of Rough Trade AND Malt Cross during the festival. Possesed with soulful voices and soul selling guitar skills, the trio will be transporting Nottingham to Memphis, and will give the punters a viable alternative to the scores of Indie bands.

Ben Caplan And The Casual Smokers (16:15 - 16:45, Spanky Van Dykes)
If gypsy-esque music and raspy melodies tickle your fancy then these guys might be your cup of whiskey. Hailing from Canada, the hairy and charismatic frontman has dipped his song writing fingers in various types of blues, and created the band's eclectic back catalogue. Any fan of Tom Waits must check these guys out for something very similar, but also very different at the same time.

The Rubens (19:45 - 20:15, Rock City Basement)
This indie-pop 5-piece have been making huge waves in their home country of Australia, with their single Hoops reaching number one on the Triple J Hottest 100 list for 2015 (Trust me, it's a big deal). Having released two albums, and performed countless tours down under, the group have a host of catchy songs to get your Sunday moving at Rock City Basement.

94 Gunships (23:00 - 23:30, Jam Cafe)
The gritty blues and up beat tunes of 94 Gunships have filled Jam Café countless times, and will do so again for this festival. They're a household name for anyone who frequents the venue, and should not be missed.
