Crosa Rosa

How did you guys get together?
We all met through Confetti institute, we were put in the same class, and I (Joe W) wanted to start putting my songs to some use in a band. I tried out a couple other people before we (the current members) got together, but it didn't quite work out. But I think we are all working well together.

How would you describe your music?
Genre-wise, I'd say its a collaboration of psych, garage, and grunge. As far as songwriting goes, we try to keep it melodic and simple, but always try to add a twist of something different in there.

What was your reaction to the news that you’d be playing the FSN final?
We were dead excited to have even got into the semi finals and be picked by the judges out of all the local bands who entered. My first though was that we'd never make it to the final, because I thought we didn't have the support or fanbase for it, since we are a fairly new band. So getting this far has been quite a surprise.

What can the Rock City crowd expect from your performance?
A lot of loud noise.

Why did you enter FSN?
Simply to get ourselves out there, we have been taken every opportunity that comes our way, its not like we had anything to lose.

Who are your biggest musical influences?
I'd say the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Frusciante, Nirvana, The Beatles, and Ty Segall... At the moment anyway, it always tends to change.

What other Nottingham artists do you love at the moment?
Definitely Kagoule, and we quite enjoyed our finalist buddies Field Studies.

What's been the highlight of your career so far?
Hard to say, since we haven't been going for even five months, but I think it will be this, the chance to play main stage Rock City, if it wasn't this, then it would have to be recording in Confetti's Electric Mayhem, which is a truly awesome studio.

How can people find out more about you?
We have a Facebook page, a YouTube channel, our stuff is free to download on Bandcamp, and is also on Soundcloud. But anymore than that, just try and get in touch with us, we're not hard to find.

Any last words for LeftLion?
Just thanks for giving artists opportunity. And we hope to be involved again in the future.

The Future Sound of Nottingham final takes place at Rock City on 22 June, free.

We have a favour to ask

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
