Scorz vs Oshea

Youthoracle’s Clash Money event took a turn for the heroic, as an epic line-up stormed the stage at the Irish Centre to send January blasting into the stratosphere.

The room was packed out with the usual gilet-clad crowd – veterans of the rap battle scene – along with a load of Notts poets and your general, can-in-hand Saturday night reveller. Youth has brought rap battle to the masses.

Sometimes, I think I miss the point of battle events. Audiences pay good money to turn up and watch their favourite artists, but are told to shut up so that the event can grab a good recording of the battle for YouTube purposes. It can often feel like fans have paid to be background extras.

Our ‘Oracle, though,  has managed to combine the need for a solid online presence, and provide the crowds with a night to enjoy. The night was so much more than just a rap battle event, with live performances from himself, Stan, Kriptik and Wariko breaking up the night, and a Curtz, Window Kid and Section76 back to back DJ set giving the crowd the chance to let off some of that pent up steam.

Highlight of the night, of course, came from the ultimate clash of the titans – Nottingham legend Scorzayzee vs Liverpudlian Oshea, with a grab bag provided by the crowd seeing tampons, umbrellas and necked cans of Red Stripe incorporated into all kinds of off-kilter bars.

Videos of the night will soon be available online, and you can vote for who you thought smashed their opponent to smithereens on the Clash Money website now.
