Description

Chaired by Matt Green, University of Nottingham

Bringing the political legacy of Gillray up to the present day, two renowned creators reflect upon the relationship between art, underground publishing and radical politics. Famed for his pioneering works including V for Vendetta and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Alan Moore consistently pushes boundaries of media and genre. Prominent in the underground comix scene, Melinda Gebbie is author of Fresca Zizis, and a contributor to several politically and erotically charged titles. Their controversial collaborative work Lost Girls explores the multiple facets of human sexuality, making explicit the links between sexual freedom and artistic innovation, sexual repression and militaristic violence.
