A graffiti story

Local photographer Chris Hardy has a long held fascination with documenting Street Art locally and nationally. In this collection of images from around Nottingham and the Midlands Chris has set out to document street art and the way street artists change their environments, often lifting a drab 'canvas' of concrete into stunning visual arts and/or profound statements.

This gallery of images juxtaposes Chris's images with lyrics from the singer/songwriter Michelle Shocked, who tells the story of the death of a Graffiti Artist for his work in her song Graffiti Limbo. Although 'street art' is becoming much more accepted and even highly profitable for some artists, human rights abuses of Graffiti artists still continue in less tolerant countries.
