Exactly two years on from Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, join representatives of Nottingham’s Ukrainian community, local poets, and Cities of Literature around the world for an evening of Ukrainian poetry in translation.

This international project, led by Milan UNESCO City of Literature and Odesa Literary Museum, aims to refocus attention on the current situation in Odesa and across the whole of Ukraine. The ongoing war in Ukraine has led to the forced closure of Odesa Literary Museum,  https://museum-literature.odessa.ua/en/museum/

In Nottingham, we will have readings of a range of classic and contemporary Ukrainian literature handpicked by Odesa Literary Museum and Nottingham’s Ukrainian community including works by Serhiy Zhadan read in both Ukrainian and English, and an original piece by Nottingham-based poet, Gail Webb. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serhiy_Zhadan

Our mission at Nottingham City of Literature is building better futures with words. We believe in the power of literature to unite people across Nottingham and further afield to celebrate Ukrainian culture and show our ongoing solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

This event is free to attend. Refreshments provided.

The event will also be available to view online.
