Finally someone’s released a grime tribute to ground-breaking 70s race drama Roots. Well, not exactly, but 2Tone’s latest track certainly explores his English-Ghanaian heritage and issues of discrimination in a similarly compelling way. Coming from Big Trev’s CRS Entertainment camp the Nottingham rapper’s precise delivery – coupled with Kirk Spencer’s heavy production – explain why this tune has been doing the rounds on the web. When legendary tastemaker DJ Semtex is feeling a track, you just know it’s going to be big.
A good video from Faolan Jones and Andre Nichols of Junglewire too. Look out for 2Tone’s label-mate and man-of-the-moment Scorzilla the Gorilla making a brief cameo at the end.
