Notts Nosh Kitchen

Thursday 11 December 2014
reading time: min, words

There's seven days left for you to help out renovate a kitchen which will be used by the community to teach people about healthy food and how to cook well for themselves. It will also act as a base for business start ups and community projects. A wonderful project with a great passion and heart.

At time of writing they were only £250 off their target so head over and help them out!

MORE INFORMATION ON THE PROJECT:

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM WE'RE TRYING TO SOLVE?

Notts Nosh Artisan Producers are a group of local small food producers and growers who work together to raise awareness of local, healthy food. We want to: - offer workshops for the community in healthy eating, preserve making, natural fermentation - let the kitchen to community members to start local food businesses of their own - renovate 'The Post Office Garden,' which will act as headquarters for our group

WHY DO WE CARE ABOUT THIS PROJECT?

This project will benefit the local area, both in terms of the local community and the environment. Here's how! - It will support small businesses in their endeavors to earn a living in an environmentally friendly way - Improvements we make to the building will contribute towards rejuvenating the immediate environment, which at present is run down - Local people can volunteer and receive training which in turn could lead to employment. - Improve the quality of food available to the community

HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT?

We will provide all the labour involved without charge. We calculate the costs of the materials to be: Timber £375 Glazing £500 Breeze blocks £100 Door £ 330 Drainage£ 70 Insulation £ 50 Floor tiles £150 Window £175 Waste removal £150 Plasterboard and plaster £100

WHEN WILL WE SEE THE DIFFERENCE?

We start building work in January of next year. It should be complete by mid February by which time we will hopefully have had time to put more funding bids together to manage the second phase - finishing the internal space and equipping the kitchen.

We have a favour to ask

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
