October Mix of the Month: DJ Synic’s Autumn Remedy

14 October 19 words: Eileen Pegg

In this new mix series we invite local DJs to get creative with each issue’s theme. As we enter autumn, DJ Synic's selection gives us a reason to smile...

We’ve officially reached autumn, which can make even the chirpiest folk feel in need of a serotonin boost. Packed full of interviews with pros whose job it is to make yer smile, the October issue of Leftlion might help, and we’ve bolstered that feeling with our latest mix. The therapeutic effect of music is undeniable, so this month we’ve moved away from harder sounds to give you an hour of grooves to make you move and soothe the soul.

The man responsible for our musical remedy is DJ Synic aka Sam Yamin – a local DJ that’s been one of the nuts and bolts of Nottingham’s late night circuit for years. A resident for Mimm, he also holds down a number of regular slots at much-loved venues including Brickworks, Angel Microbrewery and Beeston’s Berliner, as well as making appearances at high profile gigs such as Detonate festival too.

This October he’s crafted up a selection that spans low-key acid cuts, Afro jives and upbeat disco beats – with a few ravey tunes thrown in for good measure. Chuck it on while you’re cooking that first comforting casserole of the season and just try to stop the grin from forming on your face. Feels better now, doesn’t it?
