The Loft Movie Theatre is proud to present a festive one-night special screening of John Landis's 1988 comedy classic, Coming to America!
When the pampered Crown Prince of the African Nation of Zamunda (Eddie Murphy) turns 21, the King and Queen arrange a public ceremony to introduce him to his new fiancé - who has been trained since birth to tend to his every desire. But Prince Akeem has grown tired of his privileged upbringing, and his parents' idea of the perfect wife falls flat.
Convinced he will find a woman who will "arouse his intellect as well as his loins" in the aptly-named New York borough of "Queens", he drags his cynical personal assistant Semmi (Arsenio Hall) half way across the world to the United States of America.
Masquerading as oversees students, Akeem and Semmi arrive in the cold New York winter, rent a dingy apartment, and find themselves part-time cleaning jobs in a fast-food joint. So what happens when a man who has never had to wipe his own backside finds himself looking for love on the wrong side of the river...?
With an endlessly quotable script, a very '80s soundtrack, hilarious performances from the supporting cast, and award-winning makeup effects by Rick Baker (for the many other characters played by Murphy and Hall), this riotous romantic comedy is the perfect seasonal treat not to be missed on the big screen!
