Edward Scissorhands

At Savoy Cinema

The Loft Movie Theatre is proud to present a one-night special screening of Tim Burton's 1990 gothic fairy tale, Edward Scissorhands.

When Avon saleswoman Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest) hauls her cosmetics case to the door of a dark and seemingly-derelict castle at the top of her otherwise pastel suburban street, she finds herself face to face with a mysterious boy with blades for fingers (Johnny Depp).

Realising the lonely stranger is more gentle than he might first appear, Peg takes Edward home to live with her family, but when a gang of interfering neighbourhood wives demand to be introduced to the Boggs' strange new house guest, Edward finds himself the centre of attention in ways he has never known before.

At first the town treats Edward like a celebrity, and soon he starts to feel like he may find his place in society, but when he falls in love with Peg's daughter Kim (Winona Ryder), her jealous boyfriend Jim (Anthony Michael Hall) finds vindictive ways to use Edward's differences against him.

Set in a surreal and nostalgic world from the minds of Tim Burton and Caroline Thompson (A Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride), with an enigmatic performance from Johnny Depp, and a haunting score by Danny Elfman, Edward Scissorhands is the snow-covered winter classic not to be missed on the big screen this Christmas.
