Kill The Princess

At Nottingham Playhouse

Description

Part of The Party Somewhere Else Festival
A billowing, foul-mouthed ball gown.
A rave in the belly of a wolf.
An empty noose.

In this playground of up-ended fantasies in which we are all complicit, a pair of idiots try to make sense of their stories. As identities blur and narratives collapse, there’s only one choice left: do we kill the princess or let her live?

Kill the Princess is a savagely playful subversion of beliefs and expectations, which peels off centuries of civilising layers to reveal the wild tales that make us.

Bait use clown, spoken word and live art to create a genre-defying work which teases and provokes.

“Ludicrously enjoyable, with brilliant pace and timing” Broadway Baby
“Bait are one to watch” Brighton and Hove News

About the company
‘Hilarious and seriously challenging’ Bait are Lecoq and LISPA trained clowns, poets and storytellers, Lizzy Shakespeare and Michelle Madsen. Bait make experimental theatre, asking what it means to be alive here and now. We tear apart and reimagine stories to grapple with how they shape our lives.

This show will be a Relaxed Performance

Contains nudity -partial nudity, some swearing, triggering content around consent

Programmed in conjunction with Camden People’s Theatre.

New for 2019 – The Party Somewhere Else ticket fund
In 2019 we’ve extended our Outreach work to ensure as many people as possible are able to access our events. We’ve put some money aside to create a fund for people who would like to attend our events but cannot afford a ticket. If you would like to attend one of our events but cannot afford a ticket, email [email protected], or call/text 07375665140 with your ticket request (max 2 tickets per request) and we’ll book and pay for tickets for you and arrange for you to collect them. We’ll keep doing this as long as there is money available.

We’ve put some money in the pot, and you can too – if you’d like to contribute and cover the cost of an extra ticket (or tickets!) for someone else, you can make a one-off donation or sign up to contribute monthly. You’ll enable us to offer more free tickets to people who might not otherwise be able to attend. In other words, with your help, more people can come to the party. And we will love you forever for it, we promise. You can donate money to the ticket fund via a Paypal transfer to [email protected] or via Patreon.com/thepartysomewhereelse.
