Damn You! & Kogumaza presents:
Markers are a duo of guitarists Jodie Cox (Earth, Narrows, Bullet Union, Sex Swing) and Jason Carty (Geiger Counter, Foe).
Whilst their friendship and long history may have its roots in extremely loud electric guitar, Markers has a very different set of goals.
Their debut LP Heaven In The Dark Earth (God Unknown) has enough guitar chops to satisfy fans of their previous work but it moves into new territories for both, exploring the resonant qualities of the instruments and having the bravery to leave holes in the sound and in so doing leave the listener to complete part of the puzzle themselves.
Haress consists of the core guitar duo of David Hand and Elizabeth Still, based in Bishops Castle in the Shropshire Hills where they also organise the amazing Sineater Festival and run the DIY record label Lancashire & Somerset. Intertwining dark and repetitive guitar figures in order to create a hypnotic, mantra-like state, their intuitive playing works on a kind of telepathy until it’s impossible for the onlooker to work out which player is responsible for which sound.
Haress' debut LP is due in 2019 and sees the duo expand the band to include drums from David Smyth (Kling Klang, Mind Mountain); guitar from Chris Summerlin (Kogumaza, Hey Colossus, Grey Hairs), vocals from Thomas House (Sweet Williams, Charlottefield) and trumpet from Nathan Bell (Lungfish). This short tour with Markers will be this expanded version of the band.
Solo guitar & voice skills from Kagoule frontman. British folk tinged with a sharp and dark edge and some serious Bert Jansch-style instrumental chops too. Stoked to have him on the bill!
