Oyster is the second collection from prize-winning Edinburgh poet Michael Pedersen. This collection, illustrated by Scott Hutchison, better known as front man of Scottish indie band Frightened Rabbit, is the much anticipated follow up to 2013’s Play With Me, also published by Polygon. With poems on love, sex, art, politics and debauchery, Oyster is iced, spiced, baked and beaming for your pleasure!

Michael Pedersen said: ‘Working with cherished friends on projects of such a formidable cut is a champion concept. When the shining soul in question happens to be a blisteringly, brilliantly braw illustrator and, by chance, one of your favourite songwriters, well then, the job’s a bobby-dazzler. Each stroke of Scott’s pushes these poems further forward.’

Scott Hutchison said: ‘I would have worked with Michael even if he wasn’t one of my dearest friends. His poetry is so thrilling, I get caught up in his worlds and am taken effortlessly into the considered stream of consciousness. It was a challenge to distill the work, to represent such an ebullient and illuminated mind in each artwork. I hope I did it justice.’

Michael Pedersen is a prize-winning poet from Edinburgh. He also dabbles in film-scripts, plays and pop songs. Michael has performed all over the world and is the co-founder of micro publisher and record label Neu! Reekie!. Michael has won a Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship and The John Mather’s Trust Rising Star Award, is a Canongate Future 40, as well as a Callum McDonald Memorial Award finalist and can count among his fans Irvine Welsh, Stephen Fry, Young Fathers and Liz Lochhead.

Scott Hutchison is a Scottish singer, songwriter, guitarist and artist. He is best known as the founding member and primary songwriter of the indie rock band Frightened Rabbit, with whom he has recorded four studio albums. Hutchison is also a member of the musical collective The Fruit Tree Foundation, and has released one solo album, under the moniker Owl John. Hutchison studied illustration at the Glasgow School of Art.
