Rights Lab Talk - Modern Slavery in Comparative Perspective

At Djanogly Art Gallery

Description

The talk explores the many challenges of understanding and explaining the phenomenon of modern slavery from a comparative perspective. It examines definitions of slavery, their connections with theories of agency, the location of slavery in international human rights, and the challenges of measuring slavery. It then offers a preliminary comparative analysis of slavery prevalence across a global sample of countries. Todd Landman is the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Social Sciences at the university and is a director of the Rights Lab.

A series of free talks from the University of Nottingham’s Rights Lab – the world's first large-scale research platform for ending slavery.
