Beeston Tales brings in an internationally acclaimed artist to spin a story with a local connection. Rachel Rose Reid is one of the most exciting storytellers touring today. The "Roman de Silence" was rediscovered in 1911 in Wollaton Hall in a box marked "Old Papers - no value." Together, they're a perfect match.
The Romance of Silence is a 13th Century tale written in Cornwall and features Arthur's descendants and the complications caused by a foolish king's decision to deny women their inheritance rights. I'm really excited that we've got Rachel here, telling us a small part of the longer epic.
