The Study Sessions: After Orientalism

At Nottingham Contemporary

The Study Sessions are a series of informal reading and discussion groups. Each season we base the sessions on subjects raised in our exhibition and they are led by experts on the subjects. Reading material is circulated in advance via email.

The point of departure for this season's The Study Sessions is Edward Said’s canonical book Orientalism. Our guest speakers bring new and critical understandings of the violence involved in Western representations of the ‘East’ in contemporary politics and conflicts, image production and mediation, gender representation, and art and literature.

Please note that places for these sessions are limited, if you would like reserve a place please email merce@nottinghamcontemporary.org
