Watson Fothergill Walk

At Meet outside Tourism Centre

Why did the Victorians think a mortgage was like a monkey? How can one architect have two names on one building? What links one of Nottingham’s foremost Victorian architects with Mick Jagger and Thomas Hardy?

All these questions and more are answered on a guided walk around the buildings of architect Watson Fothergill (a.k.a Fothergill Watson) in Nottingham City Centre. Learn about the work of one of Nottingham’s most prominent Victorian architects, his signature style and the influence of the Gothic on the city’s buildings.

This is a walk of approximately 2km (1.25 miles) taking around 2 hours.

Participants are asked to come appropriately prepared for all weather eventualities and to wear footwear suitable for city walking.
