This Friday (25 November) sees the last LeftLion Presents of 2005 at the Malt Cross.
Over the course of the last year we have brought you performances from the likes of The Magic Heroes, The Silver Tongues, Computerman, The Henry Road and many more of the best upcoming acts from the Nottingham music scene.
This month, we have the indie riffs of Love Ends Disaster (lead singer Matt is pictured left), who cite Sonic Youth and The Flaming Lips among their influences. Also along for the ride are the sonic wall that is Public Display of Affection, who we think sound a bit like a Rocks-era Primal Scream crossed with Spiritualised. Brendan Randall (dead_fly) will be on the decks.
Not only that, but we also have a magic show from Jack Curtis. Like a teenage Tommy Cooper, Jack is one of the latest products of the Nottingham-based Central drama school, which has seen the likes of Hollywood starlet Samantha Morton (...and the guy who played Peter Barlow in Corro) tread it’s boards.
We’re not doing a LeftLion Presents at the Malt Cross in December and in the new year we’ll be changing the format and dates of our events to launch LeftLion Unplugged. This will be a new acoustic night featuring the best of local musical talent and we’re currently looking for acts to book. If you’d like to put yourself forward please email firstname.lastname@example.org
So, if you’ve always wanted to make it to a LeftLion night at one of the best venues in Nottingham, this is your last chance for this year. It’s the usual deal. Doors from 7pm. Music and magic starts at 8.45pm. Entrance is Free! Get there early if you want a table…
