Forest Recreation Ground will once again be transported to sunnier climes this weekend as The Nottingham Caribbean Carnival takes over. By now, the carnival probably needs no introduction, forming an integral part of the Nottingham summer experience, it’s guaranteed to be unique, exciting and colourful.

There’ll be a massive range of events and activities across the weekend, including fairground rides, quad bikes, authentic food, open air zumba, workshops, stalls, and of course the spectacular BIG parade run on Sunday, as always, by Tuntum Housing.

For the second year running, Red Bull Music Academy will be providing the beats for an all day party on Saturday, featuring national and local talent. This year’s stage will be headlined by Radio 1 and Capital FM playlisted DJ and producer Breach.

There’ll be a strong Nottingham contingent too with producers Elementz, Nottingham roots reggae pioneers Highness Sound System, underground DJ collective Rubberdub, and entrepreneurial bass outfit Mimm.

The event kicks off at midday and the party lasts late into the night. Entry is free (although a minimum £1 donation at the gates is suggested to help keep the festival running), and early arrival is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Nottingham Caribbean Carnival takes place at Forest Recreation Ground on Saturday 17  and Sunday 18 August 2013.

Full details of events and itinery can be found at the Nottingham Caribbean Carnival website.
