Everybody loves Scalextric. Whether you’re more excited about whizzing your cars around the track at breakneck speed or crashing them into each other, some part of you will have warm and mushy memories of that time when you performed an amazing flip/got an amazing lap speed on your tiny track.
Although it’s not quite as cool to have a set in your living room now (unless you have the excuse of kids, of course) there is still a time and a place for the little cars that would – and we’re talking literally, here, - because The Racing Room, Nottingham's Scalextric is back and this time it’s bigger, longer and better than ever. No small roads here, we're talking mighty highways and byways.
Having moved on from its previous venue, The Sir John Borlase Warren, The Racing Room can now be found in a new abode, The Dragon on Market Square (insert joke about Entering the Dragon, here).
Pop in for the launch night on Friday for friendly races - if you're feeling brave - or just to watch the big boys take part, navigating their cars through tunnels, over bridges and around hairpin bends. Up to six cars can be on the track at any one time, and with a special doohickey all lap times are recorded on a big screen.
Drinking and driving safely; sounds like a great Friday combo to us.
The Racing Room’s opening weekend will be on on Friday from 8pm and Saturday/Sunday from 12pm – 10pm. Normal meetings are each Tuesday from 8pm - entry £5.
