A rundown of the seven local music aficionados who will be taking on the role of judge at the Future Sound of Nottingham final
Future Sound of Nottingham 2013

We give the low-down on the judges for this year's final

This year is no exception. With more entries than ever before the competition has never been tougher, yet somehow they have been whittled down to just six worthy finalists.

FSN prides itself on giving finalists not only the chance to play Rock City and Splendour, but also the opportunity to have their music heard by influential music and media industry professionals.

The panel of judges account for half the score for each contestant (the audience vote counts for the other half), so impressing them counts! Here’s a handy little rundown of the seven local music aficionados who will be taking on the role of FSN Final judge 2013...

Anton Lockwood: Promotions Director at the DHP Group, Anton is one of the mastermind organisers behind events like Splendour and Dot to Dot. Having started off by setting up his own club night, he then went on to book numerous big names including The White Stripes, The Strokes and The Libertines in their early days.

Craig Chettle: Craig is the Founder and Managing Director of Confetti Media Group. With an exciting background in music, Craig has  worked as a tour manager, sound engineer and producer working with acts such as Tindersticks, Wycliffe and Nick Cave. Confetti also owns local label Denizen.

Geeta Pendse: BBC reporter and Journalist for East Midlands Today, Geeta is new to the judging panel. As an arts reporter, she has a keen eye for all things creative and having grown up in Nottingham, she’s the natural fit for an FSN judge.

Harleighblu: Having worked her way up the local ladder, Harleighblu is now preparing to live the dream and release her debut album via one of the giants of the Independent Label world  Tru Thoughts. Harleighblu will provide a fellow musician’s perspective.

Jared Wilson: One of the regular judges of the competition, Jared is the current Editor-in-Chief of Leftlion Magazine and a co-founder of the Leftlion Media. As well as this, he has written for publications including The Guardian, The Independent, NME, Hip-Hop Connection and DJ Magazine.

Jason Hart: The manager of some lad called Jake Bugg, Jason himself has a history in music having been a touring session guitarist and played with acts from The La’s to The Lighthouse Family. Jake in the past year alone has nabbed  a number one album, a string of sell-out tours and supported music legends so we’re guessing Jason’s pretty good.

Simon Wilson: Simon is the Entertainments Editor for the Nottingham Post and has interviewed music legends like Beyonce, Roger Daltrey and the irreplaceable S Club 7. He’s been doing this for 20 years now so he probably knows his stuff.

The Future Sound of Nottingham Final takes place at Rock City on Sunday 7th July from 6.30pm. Entry is FREE and no tickets are needed.
