We put some questions to the up and coming singer ahead of her gig at Rescue Rooms on Monday alongside Foxes and Samm Henshaw

What's this new single Give Me Love all about then?
It’s about trying to find your way in the world, feeling a bit rootless and lost and wanting someone to give you some love!

There are a few dancey remixes knocking about too – do you enjoy getting your dance on in the club?
Yeah, I do but I have to learn to pace myself as I’m not good for much the day after if I’ve had a big night.

You're showing off some pretty sick skate skills in the vid – was that fun to make?
I loved it! Skating always makes me feel good, it’s just such a feeling of freedom with the wind in your face, just you and the board.

Who would you most like to 'give love' to right now?
My family. I’ve been so busy it’s hard to see them as much as I would like to.

I absolutely love your tune White Tiger – do you still enjoy playing that?
Of course! It’s a really important track to me both lyrically and musically. Never fails to lift my mood and don’t think I’ll ever get bored of singing it…

We've seen you're good pals with good old Notts boys Ady Suleiman and Liam Bailey – can you dish any dirt?
To be honest I’ve only met them once so don’t think I qualify for dishing dirt. Ady supported me on my first headline London show. What a talent and a lovely guy. Liam played on the same show I did with Jools Holland. He’s sick but we only said hello.

You're about to start a massive tour with Foxes and Samm Henshaw – how excited are you for that?
Arghhhhhh! That give you an indication?

What's been the craziest point of your career recently?
There’s been so many highlights recently but I was definitely most nervous meeting Mark Ronson and performing with him at the Amy Winehouse Foundation Gala. I’m such a massive fan of his and Amy’s and I also found it really emotional because of Amy.

You've also just sold out solo headline shows in London – nice one! How does that feel?
Properly amazing. I’m just so grateful that people want to come and hear me play!

Have you been on the road before? If so, you are required to tell us a tour story...
I’m sure I’ll have a few more after Foxes and and Samm Henshaw but I’ve got one from when I was supporting Sam Smith in 2013. So we fly to Glasgow, got stuck in fog so turned up at sound check just on time. Next day we got on a train and someone had jumped in front of the train at Carlisle, we spent six hours on the train waiting and got to sound check late. The next morning we almost missed the train back to London. The final date we drove to Bristol leaving nice and early only for the M5 to hit a massive traffic jam and again leave us stranded for a while, and funnily enough we were late. A lifetime worth of transport worries in one tour – ha ha!

What's the Notts show going to be like?
It will be our fourth show of the tour so I’m sure we will all be well bedded in and the band will be really tight and comfortable on the stage by then. Plus everyone knows Nottingham people know how to party so we are expecting a good one!

Rescue Rooms do a cracking teapot of shots we can recommend for any pre-stage nerves...
I am a proper lightweight when it comes to alcohol so it will be a sip of wine before doors for me. I’ll save the shots till after

How well do you know Nottingham?
Not a lot to be honest, but I’ve been told Notts peeps know how to party!
