Remember the Spiegeltent that came to Nottingham last year? It was awesome. There were circus performances, music acts, and even a bit of comedy to boot. The portable tent is steeped in history and proper suits our city’s Old Market Square, which saw the travelling dance hall take its place for the first time, with loads of people getting down. We can’t bleddy wait for it to return to our humble city, not least because Russell Howard is performing.

That’s right. The capacity of the venue is just 250, so it’ll be an awesome chance to catch the massive comedian in an intimate setting. Thanks to our mates at Just The Tonic, we can expect to hear a load of his new material, all in one of the most interesting venues to pop up in the city, and for just fifteen quid. Proper bargain – it costs double that to see him at Motorpoint Arena next year. Keep your fingers at the ready to grab yersen some tickets. We’ve got a feeling this one is going to sell out sharpish.

Darrell Martin from Just The Tonic said “Just the Tonic are very pleased to be part of the 2016 season at the Spiegel Tent. Having brought comedy to Nottingham for over 20 years, and having worked in Spiegeltents during the Edinburgh Festival, we are delighted to be part of the team showcasing this beautiful structure and filling it with outstanding events We have one or 2 more shows in the pipeline, so keep your eyes peeled!”

Belting. On top of Mr Howard, there’s gonna be panto performances, plus more music, comedy, burlesque and theatre, all as part of October Festival in Nottingham. In addition to last year’s getup, there’s going to be a Spiegeltent Village with loads of vintage food and drink outlets. The sun might not be shining any more, but that’s definitely something we can be smiling about.

October in Nottingham also includes Goose Fair, Hockley Hustle, Nottingham Comic Con, Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival, the Robin Hood Pageant, International Robin Hood Day, and loads more.
