15 October 16 words: Bridie Squires

"If you've been lucky enough to bag yourself some tickets, here's some critical, bass-laced listening when you get down to Nottingham Racecourse"

Yes. The Godfather of grime is coming through to Nottingham Racecourse to deliver some of that old school business, all mixed in with his latest gear. With an impending new album, who knows… we might even get a few little samplers to skank out to.

Lady Leshurr

After blowing up all over the internet earlier in the year, the Queen of grime is well and truly flying the female flag on the scene. She’s up for a MOBO and everything now. Well in. The cheeky, hilarious, crystal clear production all make for a face-scrunchably awesome listen. See you at the front.

My Nu Leng

These Bristolian production chaps have been making movements on the scene for the past few years now, and they’re about to smash some dubstep, garage, drum ‘n’ bass and grime straight into your lugholes. With Dread MC hyping the set, you can expect to see some serious shapes thrown all over the shop.

Kurupt FM

Have you seen People Just Do Nothing on BBC3 yet? If not, get to know. It’s a parody of pirate radio producers, and the crew that whack it together translate their material to a live UK garage set when out and about at festivals. Thing is, they’re actually sick at the same time as being shit-your-pants hilarious. Must see.

The Heatwave

Dancehall and bashment tunes to fuel the fire in your belly. Galore. Be prepared to get your dance moves out good and proper as The Heatwave deliver a party that’ll make you question whether you’re in the middle of an East Midlands October. Don’t hurt yourself.

Newham Generals

Made up of the gritty-voiced D Double E and Footsie, the grime duo are bound to have you slinging your arms all over the shop. They’ve hooked up with names like JME, P Money, Sukh Knight and Giggs over the years, so if you’re up for some top-tier, legendary grime, get stuck in.

High Contrast

Detonate was built on drum ‘n’ bass from artists like this bloke. True to the game, he’s still going strong and moving with the times where a lot of artists might have dropped off. Iconic in his sound, High Contrast has to be seen to be believed. Get stuck in a trance with his epic remixes and original tracks alike. Serious stuff.

Detonate Halloween takes place at Nottingham Racecourse, Saturday 29 October 2016. Get drinks vouchers here.
