If you have some innovative ideas and feel like you need a place to showcase your awesome work, listen up. Malt Cross are asking the creative heads of the city to submit work for a new exhibition called “Midlands Printmakers Open 2016”.

First of all, it's absolutely free to apply. Second of all, they are accepting digital and traditional prints. It all seems pretty cool – the opportunity to showcase your ideas in one of Nottingham's most iconic buildings? Go on then.

But there’s more. If you do choose to submit, you’ll be in for the opportunity to win prizes and opportunities from organisations like Ideas on Paper, Handmade Nottingham, Van Haulin’ Pop Press, Dizzy Ink, Green Door Printmaking Studio, Surface Gallery and some magazine called LeftLion? (cough, cough)

Print-based work is a brilliant way to project your creativity and gives you something to walk away with. As Ben from Dizzy Ink says: “Print work should be made for walls, for people to be able to look at and share with each other physically. People are always gonna wanna hold things and work with things in that way. We can spend hours designing on the computer, but the real magic is what comes out of that [Risograph] machine.”

Your deadline is Saturday 22 October at midnight so this gives you plenty time to perfect your submissions. Below are some things you need to know before you enter the exhibition

  • You must be eighteen or over, living, working or studying in the Midlands. The Midlands is defined as Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Solihull, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell and Worcestershire.
  • Submissions are only accepted via CuratorSpace.
  • You can submit up to two prints to be judged. Up to two images per artwork can be submitted, however one must be an overview, and the other a close-up.
  • All work needs to of been made within the last twelve months.
